President Bush has made no secret of wanting to supply the Lebanese Army.
One can reason that it will have to happen via air and sea, so what will the Navy's role be?
An AP report sheds some light. It points out that helicopters from the aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman have been resupplying the US Embassy. So the Navy is already flying over Lebanon. One can only speculate, but it seems likely that the ship could also land ammunition or other supplies needed by the Army there.
The same article notes that the USS Mt. Whitney is on the way to the area, too.
