Where They Are

The Raleigh Chronicle reports that "The USS North Carolina, a new nuclear attack submarine launched earlier this year, will be coming to Wilmington on Saturday for its dedication, complete with fireworks on Friday night."

USNS Mercy has departed for Southeast Asia, where she will perform medical relief visits to various countries: Philippines, Vietnam, Micronesia, Timor and Papua New Guinea.

UPI reports that "Lockheed Martin has completed light off and testing on the diesel engines of the U.S. Navy's LCS 1. The LCS 1 Freedom is to be the first of the Littoral Combat Ship class for the U.S. Navy specializing in dealing with littoral -- close-to-shore dangers and to give the Navy tactical control in coastal waters." Marinette, WI.

Westside Gazette reports that the USS Mitscher and the USS Vella Gulf are now participating in Fleet Week, Port Everglades, FL.
